YEAH, it’s Springtime, FINALLY!!!

Spring is here, at least on the West Coast of Canada.  After a long winter of snow and/or cold bleak rain, to see the sunshine is a much-welcomed sight.

When the sky is blue and the sun is shining our thoughts automatically head outdoors.

Stores like HomeDepot; Lowes; Gardenworks and all Grocery chains are now packed with eager shoppers gathering their seeds, plants, flowers and trees to make their homes come alive.

Renovators are moving outside to repair roofs, change or paint siding, fix fences and create entertainment ready outdoor structures.

Decorators are running to places like Winners / Homesense; The Bay; Pier One and other stores that present their Springtime wares.

The Colour Company – Pantone says the Colour of 2018 is 18-3838 Ultra Violet

So… you ask, ‘How can I make my favourite ‘Holiday Place’ come alive with the 2018 Violet and incorporate it into my current space?

Here are 6 ‘RESORT‘ Style TIPS for creating an Age in Place – 2018 outdoor space:

1.  Re-introduce a favourite, forgotten decorative item in a redesigned centrepiece.
2.  Extend your living space to your patio, deck or balcony with an old area rug.
3.  Source & purchase some current  colour year vintage style dishes for a thrift shop
4.   Order new flowers for the front door – wreath or planter (introduce silk)
   
5. Relax with a cup of your favourite beverage & snack (mine is Bengal Spice tea & Snappers) like a Blueberry Chocolate Cake
   Finally…
6. Treat your family & friends to your calm, colourful & inspiring outdoor space!

Oh, did I mention, even though I am highly aware of them… I NEVER follow trends.  I follow my own favourite style, colours around my budget & lifestyle and harmonize those elements into the environment where I live. Just saying…
